Dear Friends,

Because of your generosity, this has been a season of incredible growth at The Overflow.

Every seed planted, every trail hiked, every lesson learned, and every young man encouraged has been possible because people like you chose to invest in the next generation. Thank you for believing that character, purpose, and community matter.

Here's a snapshot of what you've helped make possible this past year:

Your Impact (January - August 2026)

More than 50 young men served through mentoring, workshops, outdoor experiences, and community events.

30+ program days focused on agriculture, trades, leadership, outdoor adventure, life skills, and community service.

Our Seeds of Purpose Community Garden expanded to seven raised beds with more than 120 active plants growing across nearly 1,000 square feet.

326 plants cultivated and distributed including tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, and okra while youth learned responsibility, stewardship, and perseverance.

Meaningful partnerships developed with organizations including the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics, Burke County NAACP Youth Program, Morganton Day School, and Work in Burke's OPT-IN Program.

Two full-time summer interns completed an eight-week workforce development experience, gaining practical job skills while helping lead projects across our property and programming.

More Than Activities

At The Overflow, we believe experiences shape character. Whether a young man is climbing a rock wall, catching his first fish, building a raised garden bed, changing engine oil, harvesting vegetables, or serving a neighbor, every activity is intentionally designed to develop qualities that last a lifetime:

  • Responsibility

  • Integrity

  • Courage

  • Perseverance

  • Teamwork

  • Servant Leadership

Our goal isn't simply to teach skills. Our goal is to help young men become leaders who positively influence their families, schools, workplaces, and communities.

Looking Ahead

As our programs continue to grow, so does the opportunity to reach even more young men. Your support is needed. Together, we are planting seeds today that will continue producing fruit for years to come.

Thank you for believing in The Overflow and for investing in the lives of the young people we serve. We are grateful to have you on this journey.

With gratitude,

Jared Harbison

Founder & Executive Director
