We’re honored to welcome Victor Salgado to the Advisory Board of The Overflow — and we couldn’t be more excited about the wisdom, steadiness, and heart he brings with him.
Victor is a retired military professional, educator, and community leader whose life’s work has centered on one consistent theme: developing people and strengthening the systems that help them thrive.
With more than two decades of leadership, mentorship, and public service experience, he embodies the kind of grounded, purpose-driven leadership that aligns beautifully with The Overflow’s mission.
During his military career, Victor served in multiple leadership and instructional roles, managing teams, leading operational initiatives, and training young Marines and Sailors. As an instructor at NAS Pensacola, he taught basic electronics and aviation maintenance — but his impact went far beyond technical instruction. He served as a primary mentor, walking alongside students academically, professionally, and personally as they navigated both military service and life transitions.
He also served as a Command Financial Specialist, guiding service members in budgeting, debt management, and long-term financial planning. In a season of life where many young adults are building independence for the first time, Victor helped them establish stability, confidence, and clarity for the future.
After retiring from the military, Victor carried his commitment to public service into his civilian career with the City of New Bern. There, he worked in roles ranging from Customer Service Representative to Energy Management Specialist and Key Accounts Manager. In each position, he partnered with business leaders, community organizations, and city departments to strengthen collaboration and improve access to services.
Whether representing the city at community forums or working one-on-one to solve challenges, Victor built bridges through clear communication, steady problem-solving, and genuine relationship-building — skills that translate directly into strong, effective advisory leadership.
Victor has also served in supervisory and leadership roles within pharmaceutical manufacturing, overseeing operations in highly regulated environments. His work included maintaining quality standards, improving processes, and aligning day-to-day execution with long-term goals. Throughout it all, he remained focused on developing talent, supporting teams, and navigating complex systems with calm and clarity.
Victor holds both a Master of Business Administration and a Master’s degree in Higher Education. His academic background strengthens his practical experience, equipping him with insight into organizational leadership, strategic planning, student development, and community engagement. More than credentials, though, Victor brings a collaborative leadership style, strong work ethic, and a genuine desire to see others succeed.
At The Overflow, we exist to plant seeds of purpose through mentorship, skill-building, and character formation. Victor’s life and leadership story mirror that mission. He understands mentorship. He understands structure and systems. He understands young people at pivotal life stages. And he understands what it takes to build organizations that serve with both excellence and heart.
