Lessons in the Soil

Recently at The Overflow, the boys got their hands dirty—and we mean really dirty. We spent the day in the garden planting seeds, building beds, and learning the basics of regenerative agriculture.

There's something about working the ground that teaches you in a way a classroom never could. You can't rush a seed. You can't shortcut a harvest. You put in the work, you wait, and in time, something grows.

That was the heart of our conversation today. We opened up Matthew 9:37—"The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few." The world is full of opportunity, full of fields ready to be worked. The question is whether we're willing to be the ones who show up and do the work. Each of the boys took a turn sharing a goal for their future. Whatever the goal, the thread that ran through every answer was the same: it's going to take hard work.

It wasn't all work. We played games. We ran relays. There was competition and a lot of laughter.

It all started, as the best days do, with a big breakfast around the table.

It was a great day.
