More Than an Oil Change: Building Skills and Confidence
Recently at The Overflow, a few of our young men learned how to change the oil in a vehicle and perform basic vehicle maintenance.
Victor Salgado led the workshop and did an incredible job walking the boys through the process step by step. He took time to explain not only what to do, but why each step matters. Just as importantly, he emphasized safety, preparation, following a work plan, and paying attention to the small details.
These are the kinds of lessons we love at The Overflow. Changing oil may have been the task, but the bigger lessons were about confidence, responsibility, patience, and learning how to do things the right way.
After the work was finished, everyone gathered for pizza and conversation. It was a chance to slow down, laugh, connect, and talk about what they had learned.
At The Overflow, we believe some of the most meaningful mentoring happens while working side by side. Today was a great example of that: practical skills, positive male mentorship, and time spent building relationships.
It was a productive day, and another opportunity to plant seeds of purpose in the lives of young men.
